Welcome to “The Birds of Honduras” website. Here you will encounter a wealth of information about the avian diversity of Honduras in an interactive format found nowhere else.

Robert Gallardo has lived in four regions of Honduras since early 1993 that include the Department of Olancho, the Rio Platano Biosphere Reserve, Pico Bonito National Park and Copan Ruins. The majority of the work contained within this site has come from his extensive inventorying and tours throughout the country.

There are informational write-ups, photos and/or audio recordings for over 380 species including the endangered, endemic Honduran Emerald, the prized Keel-billed Motmot, Great Green Macaw, Blue-crowned Chlorophonia, Lovely Cotinga and many more. All audio recordings were done in the field by Robert and in the near future he plans on completing a CD of the bird calls of Honduras.
